Nantucket Project: Former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev to Speak

The Nantucket Project 2013 just announced that the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev will be one of the speakers at the 2013 event which takes place September 27, 2013 - September 29, 2013 in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Former leader Mikhail Gorbachev is also a 1990 Nobel Prize winner (nobelprize.org).

According to nantucketproject.com the leader will reflect “on the end of Soviet Communism, his relationship with Ronald Reagan and views on the world today.”

Mostly getting to Nantucket and Century House is adventurous and memorable. Guests asks how to get here and most already know that you can only get here by boat or plane (unless you swim, not recommended). Occasionally people will ask if there is a bridge to Nantucket. No, there isn’t a bridge or a tunnel to Nantucket.

You can fly from the Cape Cod - Hyannis area to Nantucket in about 15 minutes. You can take the ferry for 1 hr. or the slow ferry, which is 2 hr. and 15 minutes. The slow ferry takes cars, and you have to make reservations in advance or you will likely not have space. Once you get here you can walk to Century House from either one of the two Nantucket ferry docks: Steamboat Wharf or Straight Wharf depending which ferry you decide to take.Steamship Authority or Hy-Line Cruises are the two ferry companies. Steamship Authority docks on Nantucket at Steamboat Wharf, Hy-Line Cruises docks at Straight Wharf.

Check the airport closest to you. You might find out you can fly to Nantucket directly. You can also fly into Boston, MA. You can then either rent a car and drive to Hyannis, MA, or you can take the Plymouth-Brocktonbus-line directly into Hyannis, MA. You can check the Plymouth-Brockton schedule, they depart often directly from Boston Airport.
